 Top At The Box Office



Hellboy II: The Golden Army debuted #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $35.8 million. The film also had the hghest per theater average of any in the top ten with $11,200 per theater. The debut is about expectations. The film had an $85 million budget.

Hancock fell to #2 in its second weekend, earning $33 million to raise its total gross to $165 million. The film cost $150 million to make, so it is well on its way to being very profitable.

Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D debuted at #3 with $20.5 million. The film cost $60 million to make.

Wall-E fell two spots to #4 in its third weekend, earning $18.5 million to raise its total gross to $162.7 million. The film had a $180 million budget.

Wanted fell two spots to #5 with $11.5 million, raising its three week total to $112 million. The film is already a success as the budget was $75 million.

Get Smart fell two spots to #6 in its forth weekend, earning $7.1 million to raise its total gross to $111.4 million. The film has passed its budget of $80 million.

Meet Dave debuted at #7 with $5.3 million, a major disappointment. The film cost $60 million to make so it will now not have a shot at turning a profit in theaters and will have to rely on the international box office and DVD sales.

Kung Fu Panda fell three spots to #8 in its sixth weekend, earning $4.3 million to raise its total gross to $202 million. The film has been one of the most successful of the summer, well surpassing its $130 million budget.

Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl fell one spot to #9 in its forth weekend, earning $2.3 million to raise its total gross to $11 million.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull fell three spots to #10 in its eighth weekend, earning $2.2 million to raise its massive total to $310.4 million. The film has been a huge hit, well surpassing its $185 million budget.
