WHACKY BUT TRUE NEWS....

THE GORILLA'S GOT IT... A gorilla at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston will predict the outcome of the Super Bowl today (February 3rd). The gorilla, "Little Joe," will be asked to choose from two boxes one labeled with "New York Giants" and the other for the New England Patriots. The zoo's website is hoping Little Joe will pick the Patriots since his "heart lies with his family at the Franklin Park Zoo." On Super Bowl Sunday, Little Joe will be honored at a party in for his 19th birthday.

DON'T DROP YOUR TOWEL!!... A purse-snatching burglar in Florida was arrested after DNA evidence led authorities to the man. According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office in Bradenton, 36-year-old Terrence Jackson dropped a towel that he was wearing on his head when he committed the crime in a 7-11 store last year. The towel was tested for DNA and the results were entered into a national database that matched it up with Jackson. Deputies arrested Jackson on Monday.

FLOOR POT... New York police said they found a vertical marijuana farm, taking up four floors of a five-story Bronx apartment building. Police broke down the door of the building Monday and discovered 600 potted marijuana plants filling the top four floors of the building in
the Morris Park neighborhood. The owners had modifications to the ventilation system. "They were using enough electricity, grow lights and such to power an entire city block," a The 1,500 pounds of pot removed from the building had a street value estimated at $7.5 million.

Coconut Cream Cheese Rolls

This recipe is a spin off of an all time kid favorite , using the leftover pie crust dough to make Cinnamon Rolls. My Grandma Provance would make these and let me help after she put the pie in the oven to bake. So try this recipe with your kid or grandchild and have fun with them. Making a pie dough is simple and the reason this one is given is that it worked best with the ingrediants

Pie dough is made by combining 2 cups of all purpose flour with a teaspoon of salt then mixing in a cup of shortening till it is crumbly. Add one half cup of cold water and mix. You now have a ball of dough. Divide it in half and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. If you have a cool mixer this takes no time at all and 5 minutes if you don't.

This is the fun part. Roll out the dough to about an eighth of an inch thick on a floured surface and then trim to make a 4 inch by 6 inch rectangle as it makes it easier to roll up.It's fun because it's a little messy. Throw some flour on the kid so they know it's OK to have a good time baking

The filling material as taste tested by Big John on WKKW is made by mixing a package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese with one package of Coconut Cream Instant Pudding mix. This becomes pretty stiff and can even be rolled out . Place the filling a little shy of the edges of the dough and about the same thickness. Gently roll it up and seal the ends ( little bit of water or butter on your finger) , then seal the seam of dough to keep it from opening up while baking. This working ability of the dough is the reason for the recipe given as we experimented with three separate pie doughs and this one didn't split open as I rolled it.

Lastly take some good butter melt it and bast the top and cover with sugar to make a little glaze as it bakes.

Bake at 350 for about half an hour

Let them cool, slice and eat.

Now the cool thing is you can teach a kid to bake and have fun , hence the reason for no alcohol consumption during this recipe.

Grandma Provance made her filling with basting the dough with melted butter then cinnamon sugar. We also used a mixture of cinnamon suger and finely chopped pecans. Of course you can also use any other type of pudding mix like Banana Cream or Vanilla.

Now use that other ball of dough and make a real pie and find out how good it will taste with a great crust instead of one of those pre made frozen ones. Or a Quiche . Hmmmm now there's a idea. Country French Cooking.

So grab a kid and try this recipe and be remembered like I remember Grandma Provance every time I cook
