*An extra is seriously injured on the set of the new Transformers movie. During a stunt, the driver of a car was hurt during filming in a Chicago suburb. The person had to be flown to a nearby hospital. Apparently something went thru the car's windshield. The movie's been filming in Chicago all summer.

*A television producer convicted of trying to blackmail David Letterman is a free man. Robert Halderman was released yesterday for good behavior. He'd been sentenced to six months behind bars. Halderman will now focus on his community service while he spends five years on probation. He tried to get Letterman to pay him two million dollars for keeping secrets about his sex life with staff members.

*A couple of new movies in theaters today. Going the Distance stars Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. It's about a oouple that lives on opposite coasts.

In Machete, a vigilante's hired for a hit in Texas before going on the run and getting revenge. It stars Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, and Steven Seagal. George Clooney's The American opened Wedensday.
*American Idol is wrapping up its final auditions for season ten in Los Angeles. On September 22nd, the crew will make its way there to try out one final set of people. The show hits the air in January on Fox.

*A gorgeous weekend on tap for Labor Day. The Weather Channel says we'll see the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, which will cool off temperatures. Highs only in the upper 60s this weekend.

*The full fury of Hurricane Earl looks to have bypassed the Outer Banks in North Carolina, but the now-category two storm in heading north.

Fox's Steve Harrigan's on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach. He says locals feel confident that they too won't feel the full force of Earl, but tourists are still being warned to be careful around the water.
*A Fairmont sex offender is found guilty of more charges by a Marion County jury. Cecil Simons, 58, will be sentenced next month on two charges of sexual abuse. He apparently touched a nine-year-old boy, then threatened to rape his mom if he told. Simons has been convicted of sexual abuse before.
*A robbery is under investigation today in Clarksburg. Someone held up the Midtown Lounge around 2:00 Friday morning. The man had a gun with him. He fled in a light blue car.
*In Preston County, the FBI will be called in to investigate another inmate stabbing at the Hazelton Federal Prison. The victim was taken to the hospital yesterday. Another stabbing happened there earlier this week. They both involved inmates.
*A Monongalia County man's stabbing case is headed to the grand jury. Victor Molisee, 20, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday. He's accused of stabbing his neighbor last month during a visit in Granville. Molisee is free on bond.
*The Italian Heritage Festival's officially underway in Clarksburg. Thursday night, the Italian Men and Women of the Year were honoroed at a dinner. This year, Donald and Robert Adams wer acknowledged, along with Secretary of State Natalie Tennant. Saturday, it's the parade through the streets of the downtown.

*Four of six terminals at Miami International Airport were evacuated after a screener spotted something suspicious in a checked bag. The TSA isn't saying what was found yesterday, but the passenger has been arrested by Miami-Dade Police.
Next door, the airport's hotel was evacuated for safety purposes. All the concourses at the airport have since reopened.

*The egg hunt is over in the Mountain State. For the past couple of weeks, the state Department of Agriculture has been looking for eggs possibly tainted with salmonella following a nationwide recall. 18 different places had eggs that could have been contaminated. The FDA continues to investigate a pair of Iowa farms after the bacteria was found there.
